Many of us seek a slimmer looking face to be selfie-ready anytime, anywhere and it's no secret that I'm one who braves through aesthetic treatments to achieve my personal goals.
If you have decided that creams and massages aren't working for you and currently contemplating having some work done on your chin area - scroll down and read on my recent aesthetic experience.
Answer: Non-surgical chin fillers & botox
Truth to be told, I'm pretty satisfied with my physical appearance but recently when I became had a featured video role - I found that my face is pretty "flat". I mean, in photos I can angle my face for a flattering portrait shot but when it comes to videos - I can't really control which part of my face will be shown because the videographer will basically capture the angles that best tells the story.
Because of this recent video experience, I was pretty disappointed with my non-3D Asian features because I know in the social media world - videos are the future. And if I want to create more videos in the near future for a more engaging content, I cannot help but feel insecure about my "flat face".
It's not like I want a super 3-dimensional face, but I'm looking for some dimensions that will allow my best features to "pop" on camera. Also, I was advised by a Feng Shui Master that my face is my "rice bowl" - meaning if I keep up my appearance, more fortune will come my way. I don't know how true this statement is, but I never denied the fact that having good looks can get you one step in the door because (sadly) people will always judge you by looks first.

About a few weeks after the video shoot, RJ Clinic approached me. Talk about right timing!
A quick Google search revealed that RJ Clinic (previously known as Renee Clinic), have serviced quite a few famous Malaysian social media personalities - some are whom I am well-acquainted with.
Seeing their faces on RJ Clinic's page gave me the assurance I need to take the leap of faith and get some aesthetic work done together.

Upon entering the clinic, I am greeted with a Victorian-themed interior.
RJ Clinic is situated along Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur - which isn't far from my place in Petaling Jaya. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to get there and the parking is such a breeze.
These two transparent jars store all the tools for fillers and injections - to demonstrate that they are really experienced in the aesthetic field. (Later I saw they won awards in Golden Record Awards 2018 by Merz Aesthetics - Winner for Highest Amount of Belotero Filler Injected in M'sia & 2nd Runner Up for Biggest Filler User in Asia Pacific!) Not to mention a whole wall filled with certificates too.

Dr. Renee is the founder of the famed Renee Clinic and they recently updated their name to RJ Clinic, as part of a rebranding exercise.
Waiting Areas
The waiting areas are decorated with such plush seats that will make time pass by in a breeze. There is also complimentary coffee, tea, water, and light refreshments served here.
This is the first clinic that I've visited that offers a selection of Netflix movies for you to spoil yourself with! They really do know how to welcome their patients and their companions!
After registering myself, we took a few close-up shots using an advanced camera with unique lens to capture my face in 3D. Yes - 3 dimensional. Apparently, I learned that this camera also costs a bomb to acquire it because it has the ability to preview your face after the aesthetic work is done!
Once my photos are taken, I met up with Dr. Cheok to discuss the structures of my face and we identified some improvements that can be done. It is such a joy being able to share my deepest insecurities without feeling judged.
We identified a few things that can be enhanced without resorting to surgery:
a. Botox & Filler on chin
b. Accusculpt Laser on eye bags
c. Filler on cheeks and tear trough
I pretty stoked to share that I will be going through

I'm really excited and I can't wait to see the final results.
As for the first treatment, I will be going through Botox & Filler on my chin.
Beauty is served: Dr. Cheok recommends using these two fillers - one intense (firmer type) to create the base while one balance (soft type) to support both sides of my jawline.
The nurse then escorted me to the treatment room, with a flat screen TV attached to the wall. The TV emitted calming music from Spotify and I drank one last sip of coffee before the treatment begins.

On a side note, RJ Clinic has a Golden Shower in their washroom!
And an automatic Toto bidet!
I could only find Toto in Japan during my trip earlier in April and it is really famous there. Literally, all the high-class shopping malls and hotels use this very brand in their toilets.
With high anticipation, I was lying down on the treatment bed with numbing cream on, ready for my enhancements.
Dr. Cheok marked exact points for the needle to be inserted and I had one last look at my original chin, bidding my farewells internally.
DURATION
After the numbing cream set in (about 20 minutes), the duration of the treatment is really fast!
It only took Dr. Cheok to inject both firm and soft fillers about 10-15 minutes and top up with botox with about 5 minutes.
PAIN LEVEL
Numbing cream = 0/10
Fillers = 1/10 on my left side, 3/10 on my right side
(the right side of my face seems to have more pain receptors. this varies between individuals)
Botox = 0/10
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Pain wise, I experienced close to NO PAIN. I thought I was calm in my head before the treatment started, but I can't help but noticed my heart was pounding faster than usual and that I started to feel my body sweat under the covers thought the aircon was working perfectly fine.
I'm not sure why my body reacted that way when my mind wasn't (lol) but I'm thinking that it really has been a while (few years) since I have had anything done to my face so it could be just nerves.
Throughout the treatment, I could HEAR the liquid entering my chin as the doctor injects the fillers on my chin. It was quite a nervous moment for me because I couldn't open my mouth to ask questions as my chin was getting treated. I feared that by talking, I would move the syringe and in turn, disrupt the process. So I had to be patient until the whole 10 minutes or so was over because I could ask anything. But those 10 minutes, I was feeling anxious! So I thought to myself - I should ask the doctor on things to expect BEFORE THE TREATMENT BEGINS so that I don't have to feel paranoid during the process lol.
For fillers and botox, there is NO DOWNTIME so basically, I can return to work or activities as normal. There is only one thing to avoid - which is the sauna or any hot places - as we don't want the newly fillers to be affected. Also, Dr. Cheok warned me not to massage around my chin area because the shape takes some time to fully settle in with the rest of my face.

In the Before shots, you could see that my chin is shorter.
In the After shots, my chin has been elongated and slightly protruding.
With a slightly longer chin, I have now cheated my way to look slimmer in photos haha!
